Learn To Schedule Madden 11 Tournaments

The Madden NFL syndicate is a huge outfit in the video game market. This is one of the most popular EA Sports release, be it in the XBox 360 version, Playstation, Nintendo or the PC version. It is awaited for eagerly throughout the world. Madden 11 tournaments are held throughout America and they have enthusiastic participants of various age groups. If you are thinking of hosting one of them, there are certain things you have to be aware of.

Few events offer prizes and rewards to the winner but others are just played for the glory. To host an event for friends, you should probably decide if there is going to be a reward and hence, a participating fee. The events hosted on television offer lump sums of cash as rewards. Only the best players take part in these.

Any competition is credible only if fairness is assured in the proceedings and the selection of the winner. There is not a set a of standardized rules that have to be adhered to. However, most of these events follow more or less the same basic rules. If you are hosting a competition, ensure that it is fair and that all the players stick to the common rules. One of the main rules is that on no account is a player supposed to bring his own console or controller. This is ensured so that tampering can be eliminated and all the players can start off on a level playing field. If there are any hints of tampering, either with software or hardware, you should immediately report it to the referee and punish the player. In such cases, the player is usually booted off the event.

Referees have present in these competitions to ensure fairness and to supervise game play. They have a variety of roles. They oversee the play and also the conduct of the players. They also need to oversee player dress code.

The referees can also decide when is the correct time to pause the game. They should keep abreast of the technical details of the game so that they are able to identify any cases of manipulation of software, if brought to their notice. If a player tries to use any glitch in the software to his advantage, the referee must be able to recognize it. No vulgarity is tolerated and any attempts to abuse the referee either physically or verbally are grounds to disqualify the player. During play, player is forbidden from interacting with the audience. No usage of headsets is allowed. Damaging equipment is also considered grounds for punishment. Before game play begins, ensure all your players are aware of the rules.

No game 'fixing' is tolerated and any attempts to do so will get the player booted. Madden 11 tournaments rules vary according to the type of event. A live game will have slightly different rules from an online one. You may also have to stipulate the duration of game play, the speed of game and the difficulty settings.

The Bittersweetness of a Madden Cover Appearance

The release of Madden 11 will be one of the most hyped and anticipated events in 2010. This renowned franchise has been a phenomenon for the past 21 years. Every year, the EA Sports team visits the NFL draft in order to get head-shots of the new players in their new uniforms as soon as possible. The game has become so popular that tournaments where professionals play head-to-head for loads of money have made it onto television for our viewing pleasure. You may have also heard the term "Madden Holiday"...and it just goes to show how incredibly popular it has become.

You might also think that players are honored and delighted to be featured on the game's cover. Ever since 1999 when John Madden started putting players on the cover instead of himself, those players seem to either perform badly or suffer serious injury.

In the first week of the 2009 season, the Madden curse had already reared it's ugly head. For the first time in the series' history, two players graced the cover of Madden NFL 10. It's a classic matchup that re-lives the drama of Super Bowl 43; Larry Fitzgerald of the Cardinals and Troy Polomalu of the championship Steelers. Troy Polomalu was injured in the Steelers' very first regular season game against the Titans. He didn't return.

One would imagine teams and players would have learned their lesson by now. Athletes are notoriously superstitious, and next time Madden comes a callin', most would be better off to just decline. If you don't believe in it yet, just take a look at all the historical evidence of a very real "Madden Curse.".

Some Hisrotical Examples:

2002: QB Daunte Culpepper was honored with a Madden 02 cover appearance folliowing his team's final four appearance in 2000. He followed this up by missing the last five games of the 2001 season with a hurt knee, and his team missed the playoffs.

2003: After gracing the cover of Madden 03, RB Marshall Faulk played the whole 2002 season with a hurt ankle and missed the 1,000 rushing yard mark for the first time in 6 years while his team rounded out the season with a 7-9 record, which wasn;t good enough for a playoff appearance.

2004: For the third year straight, the cover athlete of Madden suffered injury. In 2003, it was QB Mike Vick, who missed the entire season due to preseason injury. Without him, the Falcons went 5-11.

2006: After taking a break in 2004, the curse was back at it for the 2005 season. Donovan Mcnabb was the cover athlete of Madden 06 and wouldn't you know, he suffered a sports hernai in week one, causing him to eventually get sidelined for the second half of the year.

That's the history of the curse. So, what will happen to this year's cover star?
